Alamo Restoration and Master Plan
San Antonio, Texas

Restoration, 1979-(ongoing)
Facade Stabilization, 1994
Master Plan, 1985

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, custodians of the Alamo, commissioned Ford, Powell & Carson to provide a comprehensive master plan for the site. The plan made recommendations for the restoration of existing structures, historic interpretation of modern support features, and for landscape development of the site. Inappropriate contemporary landscaping was replaced and native plant species were reintroduced.

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas also retained Ford, Powell & Carson to analyze and develop a stabilization and preservation plan for the historic shrine. This project included the production of detailed record photographs of the entire facade, analyses of various problems facing the building, and outlined a series of solutions. The firm also developed a long range stabilization plan for the Alamo.
