Construction 2004-2006

Subsequent to the completion of a campus development plan for the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB), Ford, Powell & Carson was engaged to design the first major portion of that master plan – a loop road, central plaza, and a 430-space parking structure.

This project represents a major reorganization of both the facilities and the infrastructure of the eastern portions of UTMB's campus. The parking structure and plaza will become the central features of the clinical facilities; patients and visitors will be directed along re-aligned roads to their destinations around the loop road, and to the central parking structure. The structure is carefully integrated into the landscape and bordered by trellises so that it reinforces the plaza and vegetated areas which surround it.
