The developer for this project wanted to build an inner-city condominium development that exhibited civic consciousness. The most challenging goals of the project included maintaining an appropriate scale relationship to existing neighborhood residences and saving as many trees on the site as possible while providing common-area amenities within a high-density development.
The condominiums were designed as three-story units with ground-level entries. Careful excavation and judicious placement of retaining walls allows natural light to enter the lowest levels. A limited palette of materials was selected in order to blend the apartments with surrounding buildings.
