Craft

Today, “craft” has become a buzz-word - a trend in which consumers strive to find the authenticity or exclusivity in which they partake, from beer and coffee to music playlists, artwork to cuisine and jewelry.

Craft is the humanity within a project. FPC celebrates a rich history of incorporating of texture, contextual and regional materials, hand-made elements, and unique details into our work. Our legacy is design dedication to the truth in form and architectural construction, all the way down to the details.

O’Neil Ford’s ability to articulate the sophisticated and international concepts of Modernism, with the colloquial inflections of regional materials and craftsmanship helped lay the roots for Regional Modernism. His dedication to adding warmth and even modesty into well-proportioned and innovative forms was a testament to strong design values and even stronger intrapersonal relationships with the trades.

At a minimum, craft describes the work of our partners - the artisans, makers, and technical experts who put the same pride into their work that we do. At its best, craft is what some of our most iconic projects are known for and why their stories stand the test of time. Craft can also reside in many scales—from custom hardware and lighting, custom furniture and doors, to fabricated or harvested materials that make up entire spaces and design features.

Today, FPC maintains the same dedication and passion for incorporating unique details, regional materials, and contextual sensibility into our projects. We have evolved what skilled trades have left before us, so our works can tell stories for years to come.
