Alamo Colleges District Support Operations Headquarters Building
FPC was design architect for the new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Building on the Alamo Colleges Northeast Lakeview campus, known as Paluxy Hall. The three-story facility compliments existing buildings on campus and contains science and computer labs, a maker space and a nurse training facility in addition to general classroom spaces. The 86,390-sf building also contains a multi-purpose room for use by not only Northeast Lakeview staff, faculty, and students, but also by other members of the Alamo Colleges District and the community. A cyber cafe and seating area are included in the design to be enjoyed by students, staff, and the community.
Native plants, wooden benches, shade structures and an outdoor learning area embrace the landscape architecture of the site along with green walls and sculptures. The STEM Building is sited along a new circular entry drive on the west edge of the campus constructed as part of the project.
Science themed art including painting, photography, multi-media and sculpture was incorporated throughout interior and exterior spaces to reflect the facility type and stimulate learning.
